Books That Will Change Your Life ForeverLife-changing books

Reading books is one of the most useful things you can do every day. The right book can make you financially free. And also business success, happy personal relationships, better health, and long-term goals. Here are 8 life-changing books to read in 2023 if you want to make a difference.

Man’s Search For Meaning – Viktor E. Frankl

Man’s Search for Meaning, which was published a year after World War II, has been translated into many languages and is widely regarded as a  life-changing read. I came to know about it through a very good friend of mine. There was this book that influenced him tremendously. So what was it that kept on the best seller’s list for a long time, with over 10 million copies sold?

A life-changing message for students

“When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves”

Viktor Frankl, in his book, ‘Man’s Search For Meaning’, advises students all over the world that success can’t be achieved by setting it as their goal. Doing so will only increase the likelihood of their missing it. Success, like happiness, can’t be sought out. It has to happen on its own. Like when you give your all to something bigger than yourself, or to someone other than yourself. When you stop thinking about if or not you’ll be happy, good things start to happen.

What made him think of life this way? Viktor Frankl, a Holocaust survivor, endured unspeakable horrors in Nazi concentration camps. Yet, he got through the ordeal, thanks to the psychological method of logotherapy. It is the psychology of how you are responsible for finding the meaning of your own life. And that was what ultimately saved his life.

The Alchemist – Paulo Coelho

This is my all-time favorite, a tale about following your dream. Many passionate readers around the world have had ‘The Alchemist ‘ change the way they saw the world. What about this book makes it so well-known all over the world?

It’s a simple story, a mystical one, about a young Andalusian shepherd named Santiago. This young man leads a simple existence until he begins to receive visions of a greater destiny. He goes on a journey that changes the course of his life. He goes all the way to Egypt in search of the bigger treasure he has seen in his visions. Along the way, Santiago he meets a mysterious alchemist. He befriends him and he ends up being a kind of spiritual guide for Santiago.

The prospect of a dream coming true is what makes life fascinating. But as Coelho points out, the trick to life is “fall seven times and get up eight times.” We are always giving tips, or criticizing other people’s lives with our own choices. While we have failed to figure out our own life. Coelho asks his readers to follow their hearts. According to him, “When we love, we always strive to become better than we are”. “Everything improves when we improve ourselves.”

Reading The Alchemist gave me a sense of belonging to something bigger than myself. And it’s that sense of humility and inspiration that I want to share with you. This book is a must-read and should be on your list.

Deep Work by Cal Newport

One hour of undistracted time for creative work can solve a lot of time management problems. Yes, that’s what ‘Deep Work’ is all about. You will also find out from the book that focus helps you to learn complicated things faster. A “higher level of quality output,” can be best achieved when it is gaining value in the economic climate.

Today, the biggest problem is that we are rarely focusing even when we know we are. Attention residue happens every day with all. We work hard on one job but can’t stay focused. We “check back” on social media, emails, and other distracting things during our breaks. These distractions follow us back to our primary work. And it becomes more difficult to zero in on our top priorities once we get there. The benefits of ‘Deep Work’ go beyond alone increasing productivity. It makes a huge difference in how you live.

The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck – Mark Manson

‘Being Comfortable With Being Different’ – That’s what this incredible self-help book emphasizes.

Having serious talks is the hardest part of getting people to trust and respect you. But, if you are honest about your flaws or brave enough to face them, people will find you more attractive. The most beautiful lessons you could relate to and learn are that:

  • You need to listen to your emotions.
  • You have the power to choose your response.
  • Growth is a never-ending process.
  • Make choices independent of your fears.

If asked to explain in a few sentences, I would summarize as follows:

You can make the best use of your time and energy on something you find to be essential and meaningful in your life. Everyone’s life has problems, so it’s important to find a reason to keep going. We, thus, come to the conclusion that the key to happiness isn’t to care about more things. It is to focus on the ones that are closest to your own values.

How To Win Friends And Influence People – Dale Carnegie

Looking to improve relationships or make new and better ones? Then ‘How to win friends and influence people’ is a must-read for you. Why? All successful leaders share a common trait: they’ve read Dale Carnegie’s classic, How to Win Friends and Influence People.

If you talk about relationships between people, this book is priceless. It gives you a lot of tips on how to improve your social skills and keep healthy relationships. It helps you persuade people to do good things. You can make them see positive changes in their behavior without being too pushy.

Right from the beginning, Dale Carnegie proves how simple it can be to win and influence people. ‘A simple smile is all it takes for you to make a great impression’. The suggestions are so effective because of how straightforward they are.  People can put into practice everything they learn from ‘How to Win Friends and Influence’.  That’s because of the book’s underlying theme of “Be the change you want to see in the world.”

You can’t assume that the given approaches in the book will always provide the desired result. But most people’s experiences show that if we follow these rules, we can change people’s minds. A 10% improvement in our results would mean that we are more effective leaders than we were before.  So, go for it and get better before the best.
