What Is The Role Of Money In Your Life: A Hero Or A Villain?

Is money the hero or villain of your life? Well, it could be either or both. I’ve heard people say – “I don’t care about money”. In fact, I’ve been guilty of saying the same too. It could’ve been because I didn’t have enough at that time. So grapes were sour. Or someone rich must’ve hurt me to make me say that. To be honest, this only sounds wonderful in theory. You can’t deny that money is important. Is money everything in life? Indeed it is. Money practically rules the world these days. It is something that has become virtually indispensable in modern society. Really sad, but true.

The Role Of Money To Fulfill Needs

People use money as a means to an end. In this case, the driver is more valuable than the money. It is up to the person to plan how to spend his or her savings. People do think that money is enough to buy happiness. Well, they’re wrong. Money is nothing but a tool that can help you achieve the things you want in life. If you know what you want in life money can help you get it and make you happy. But money itself cannot buy happiness. There are things that are more valuable than money in a person’s life. Among these are to find life’s meaning, strong moral principles, high IQ, and respect. A wealthy person lacking these values would almost always view money in a negative way. That’s because they are unable to thrive without it. For the foolish, cowardly, and inept, money will always be something bad. And why not? These people lack the skills and abilities to make it valuable.

Money The Hero Or Villain In Survival

Money is a means of survival, they say. It is for those who have it and have gained it in a good and ethical manner. It is they who are in a position to enjoy their life. Those who use unethical or illegal means to make money don’t. There are so many legitimate ways to do it as well, aren’t there? People who became rich by gambling, fraud, or pandering to idiots cannot be happy with that wealth. One’s motivation for acting in this way is to get advantages over others. Anything bought with money earned in a wrong way can only get you curses rather than blessings.

A nasty person like this is the cause, and the financial gain is the result.

The Role Of Money In Fighting Poverty

There are people in the world who, without access to money, would starve to death. Some unfortunate people live in areas affected by drought and famine. Rich people around the world provide money and food to relief organizations. These organizations help feed the world’s hungry. It can get quite difficult and time-consuming to collect money from people. Hence, this streamlines the process of distributing emergency supplies like food. Donations from wealthy countries help their poorer counterparts with projects. Thus, money helps fight against poverty. Some of this money also goes to projects trying to find cures for different illnesses.

Money The Hero Or Villain: The Flip Side

As I pointed out above, money itself is not evil. But it’s how the people use it that makes it look evil. When it comes to finances, the same money some people use to build friendships, they can’t use to build hatred. Bad behavior comes from the desire to make money. Many countries’ leaders are too greedy, which is contributing to widespread corruption. A person’s mind and character might become tainted if he’s obsessed with wealth. This would make such a person lose the sense of conscience. People who think they can buy fame and fortune also tend to believe that money can buy them happiness. Desperate people will resort to dishonest practices like lying and stealing. Workers spread rumors about one another. They claim credit for tasks they did not do to move up the corporate ladder and earn higher wages. People do terrible things for money. They sell drugs and indulge in prostitution and pornography. Some clergy members may abuse their authority for financial gain.

Conclusion

It’s true that money isn’t the root of all evil. But, it can certainly influence people. It can make them engage in questionable activities or even develop bad habits. The role of money as a medium of exchange is universal. You can buy and sell things with money. You know you can use it for food, shelter, and transportation. People need money so they can buy the things they need to survive. Is money the hero or villain in your life story? Well, it’s a way to make ends meet; and it can help lift people out of poverty, too.
